چکیده

The calculation of antenna has been an interesting and a controversial topic for years. In this paper, we first give a rigorous study of antenna by introducing a complete description of the complex power balance relation for an antenna system. Using the complex Poynting theorem, we have shown that the antenna is essentially equivalent to a one port lossy network. The Foster reactance theorem is usually stated for a lossless network. The main purpose of this paper is to determine whether the Foster reactance theorem holds for antennas. By making use of a complex frequency domain version of the Poynting theorem, we have shown that the Foster reactance theorem is valid for an antenna. Finally, the Foster reactance theorem for the antenna has been applied to demonstrate the widely held assumption 1 , provided 1, where stands for the fractional bandwidth of an arbitrary antenna.

It is shown that in the paper by S. Hrabar, J. Bartolic, and Z.Sipus, the negative permeability of the modified split ring resonators, whichare used to obtain the miniaturized waveguide, is not excited, and there isno negative permeability metamaterial.

Study of Generalized Resonance in Multi-antenna System and Generalized Foster Reactance Theorem

This paper begins with a complete description of the complex Poynting theorem, followed by a rigorous study of the generalized resonance in a multi-antenna system. The condition generating the generalized resonance is discussed, which is the balance of the electromagnetic fields energy stored in the antennas open system. The matrix expression of the generalized resonant factor (GRF ) is derived...

Probe-Fed Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antennas,Theoretical Modeling and Experiments

A Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antenna (RDRA) is theoretically analyzed using the Conventional Dielectric Waveguide Model (CDWM), numerically simulated using the High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) software package and experimentally investigated with the consideration of the fundamental mode TE 111. Antenna parameters under investigation inclu...

Distorted Reflector Antennas: Radiation Pattern Sensitivity to the Surface Distortions

The high-frequency performance of the reflector antennas is mainly limited by the surface. It has been shown that distortions on different regions of the reflector surface can have different effects on the radiation performance. In other words, degradation of the radiation pattern due to the presence of surface distortions is sensitive to the location and behavior of the surface distortion prof...

A Study of Electromagnetic Radiation from Monopole Antennas on Spherical-Lossy Earth Using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method

Radiation from monopole antennas on spherical-lossy earth is analyzed by the finitedifference time-domain (FDTD) method in spherical coordinates. A novel generalized perfectly matched layer (PML) has been developed for the truncation of the lossy soil. For having an accurate modeling with less memory requirements, an efficient "non-uniform" mesh generation scheme is used. Also in each time step...
